Is counting calories necessary? ============================== There's a lot of time we get to hear that, "hey I want to lose weight but not be able to measure food, can't I eat just "healthy". The basic principle of fat loss is that you have to eat less than you are burning and to achieve that you must know how much calories you are actually eating and to get that number you need to access your food intake and count calories. Now the argument comes, hey but there are diets out there that tell us not to count calories and gives guidelines to lose weight even some famous nutritionist too. you know what even diets that tell you that you don't have to count calories or restrict calories will trick you into doing it anyhow. They simply cut down a lot of food option and give you options which are inherently low calorie, low protein but there are a lot of issues associated with that like sustainability, muscle loss, weight rebound, deficiencies, etc ( not covering that in detail for now ) Secondly, eating without counting calories can lead to overeating. {1}There was one study in which two groups of the athlete were kept in surplus. One group was kept around maintenance +500 kcal and the other one no calorie counting. At the end of the 12 weeks, a group which was not counting calories gained 5 percent extra body fat and here's the interesting fact - they were in surplus that is eating more than the food needed to maintain their weight and even then they gained more fat because they were not tracking calories. Takeaway- Even though you might be finding measuring each and everything a daunting task now but it's important for your goal and slowly and gradually it becomes your second nature. Consuming fruit and veggies only in their raw state is a popular dietary trend, as many people are lead to believe that cooking them pretty much destroys the nutritional value. 🤔⁠ ⁠ Fortunately, this is highly exaggerated! 🍜Let’s talk about our favorite motivator: TREATS!. . ➡️We LOVE using treats to train. Food is such a powerful tool. It’s so powerful that you can change a dog’s mind about their biggest fears with JUST using food (no force necessary 😁). We do this everyday. . ➡️However, to CHANGE a dog’s mind, we must pay them well! And yes, your treats are a PAYCHECK!. . ➡️Is it really a paycheck if they aren’t motivated by it? We must make sure our paychecks are good enough for the situations we & our dogs are in. . 💡Treat Hierarchy: Low, Mid & High-Value: . ➡️Low value treats are treats that your dog gets often, and/or treats that don’t seem to entice them much. Kibble is the best example of low-value, since they eat it every day and it’s not likely to excite them. Basic dog treats like milkbones are another great example. . ➡️Mid-Value treats are treats that are better than kibble (so, not kibble 😅), and they may not get them as often. Your soft, name-brand treats like Zuke’s, Train Me.. etc. . ➡️High-Value treats are treats your dog RARELY or never gets. Here’s the kicker: Most of our high value treats aren’t even dog treats. Cheese (if your dog can have it), hot dogs, deli meat, dog wetfood, freeze-dried raw dog food... just to name a few. . ➡️What is low, mid or high can change within a day. It is important to have a VARIETY of treats and to experiment with what YOUR dog likes. Not what Fido across the street, likes. . ➡️However, it is a paramount to have high-value treats in situations you: A. Haven’t trained for, B. Your dog previously struggled, C. Your dog IS struggling in. . ➡️Remember, if your dog is stressed or the environment is too stimulating, you won’t win with basic treats. We must pay them exceptionally well to help change their minds about these environments. .⠀ 🕷 Picture it, Sicily, 1973. You are afraid of spiders. You must go into a room crawling with spiders, but don’t want to. You are offered ONE MILLION USD to go in. Will you go in now?. ⠀ .⠀ ❇️If you said no, apply the same logic to your dog. Someone has to pay you more? Your dog is struggling, maybe you need to pay them more. If you said yes, recognize that it took 1 mil. for you to go in...

Quick beginner tips on how to make the most of your time in the gym especially during the crucial first week/month. 1.Set yourself a schedule- Sit and have a wee think about your schedule coming up then write down between 2-4 days and times which you will set out for the gym. Plan anything from 20-60mins to start you off and once you are there you don’t need to beast yourself, you just want to get into the routine of going consistently. Once you have the routine set then you can focus more on what you do while there. 2.Download the APP and book into a class- Although long term the classes may not be your thing or suit your goals, they are a fantastic way to meet other members in the same situation or have been there before. Also, it means you get to do a work out pre-planned by one of the PT’s and you don’t need to worry about a thing. I recommend trying out some of my classes, get yourself booked in for 1 or 2 of my Friday night ones this week! 3.Tracking Progress- It’s common for people to try out a few different pieces of equipment, find ones they enjoy and know how to work but then find after a few weeks they are not seeing the changes/progress they initially had. This can be due to doing the exact same work out; same exercises, same reps, same weight week after week. So, take note of what you have done. Either use your phone or even bring in a notebook and a pen and write down how many sets, reps and the weight you done for each machine, even note down what you done on cardio equipment e.g. Speed, distance, time. This way you know what you done last session/ last week and you can try and beat it over time to keep seeing progress. Lastly if you are still unsure or nervous about joining or if you have joined but still unsure about what to do when you are there then just slide into my DM’s and we can arrange a time for me to take you round various equipment and make sure you are confident in using them. What’s important are the nutrients contained in those ingredients. It’s also important to know that products with these labels are not required to contain any particular type of ingredient, nor are they held to any higher nutritional standards than other complete and balanced products. Years ago, nutrition pioneer Adele Davis gave her well-known advice to “eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper.”⁣ ⁣ Yet the conventional wisdom today is that a calorie is a calorie, regardless of when you eat it, and that what causes weight gain is simply eating more calories than you burn. Let's have a talk about this person! I've privately spoken about the self appointed "activist" @shaunking but have avoided publicly giving him any attention. However, it's high time that this guy gets the attention he really deserves but has been able to dodge for years! Let's be clear, as a biracial child and even grown man I know first-hand what it's like to have your blackness questioned and not be "black enough" for your own people. So if some of the accusations leveled against Jeffrey Shaun King were merely shallow and hominems, I'd let it be. But see there's a difference between him and myself; I know who my biological father is! Name and all! Yet this guy claims that his mother told him (at the tender age of 5) that the man he thought was his father (and signed the birth certificate) wasn't such! In fact, she told him that it was a "light skinned black man". Now, apart from the implausible insanity of a mother telling her five year old this, we are left with the fact that she never even mentioned this man's name?? Couple this with him lying and claiming the injuries he suffered from a car crash were due to getting jumped by six white boys because he was black (police report showed it was a one on one fight and listed him as white), as I'm gonna have lean towards him being a white man pretending to be black! Why? For financial gain! How do we know? Well apart from being credibly accused numerous times...his wife told us!! And let's not forget that he, if indeed white, stole an Oprah scholarship from an actual black man. And yeah, BLM was literally founded on a lie. "Hands up, Dont shoot" never happened! This man and his jumps to conclusions have harmed more people and he's "helped" and he's caused more division than any semblance of healing. We need some accountability! We would all hope so right ? 😩 You hear a lot about how breastfeeding is so good for your baby…and it sure is. But in the stressful days of early motherhood, between sleep, transporting, prep time, winter colds, and the pain it’s hard to think that breastfeeding is so “EASY”. . .Well, we totally get it, and can completely relate, that’s why We’ve gathered a few breastfeeding tips to help along this journey in hopes that your experience is just alittle more easier. . - 💭Don’t be afraid to ask for help. There are many resources to refer to when things are getting difficult. -💭Get yourself comfortable. Use support pillows. Wear comfy clothing, and breathe - 💭Let your baby set the pace. Watch for early signs of hunger, such as stirring, restlessness, sucking motions and lip movements. - 💭Switch breast. Typically after feeding for about 15-20 minutes on one breast, it will tend to feel soft. That is a good indication to switch sides. (Keep in mind there is no set time). - 💭Have your baby sleep in the room. Typically for the first 6months - a year babies should sleep in the same room with you BUT In their own bed. This will be helpful during the long nights of breastfeeding. -💭Hold off on pacifiers. Giving your baby a pacifier too soon might interfere with breast-feeding, since sucking on a breast is different from sucking on a pacifier. - 💭Gauge your success. Look for your baby to gain weight steadily, produce at least six wet diapers a day. Your baby's stools will become yellow, seedy and loose. - 💭Take Care of your nipples. When you bathe, minimize the amount of soap, shampoo and other cleansers that might contact your nipples. For dry or cracked nipples, use purified lanolin (such as @lansinohusa or Tender care lanolin) after each feeding. - 💭Make healthy life choices. Eating well helps the flow and passes any vitamins and nutrients to your little ones. Drink plenty of fluids. Rest as much as possible (when the baby naps, you nap) Do not smoke and be cautious while taking medication. - 💭Give it time. Everyone’s body is different and works differently. Don’t compare your timing to a friends timing. Don’t get discouraged, and remember it’s ok to have a slow start!
